In November 2025 Ben Garage Doors LLC was called to a newly purchased home in North Stamford after the customer wanted to get the garage fully operational. The existing setup was extremely outdated, including a 30–40-year-old opener and an old extension-spring system installed on a 15-ft double garage door. For doors of this size and weight, extension springs are not the ideal or safest choice, so we recommended upgrading the system to a modern torsion-spring setup.
As part of the upgrade, we installed a pair of 218-1.75-26 torsion springs, rated for approximately 10,000 cycles, providing smoother, safer, and more reliable operation. We also replaced the old opener with a brand-new LiftMaster 8160, a dependable chain-drive model known for its durability, long lifespan, and built-in myQ smart-control compatibility. This opener is designed to deliver strong, consistent performance while keeping maintenance low.
After completing the installation, we performed full door balancing, safety checks, cable inspection, track alignment, and opener calibration to ensure everything operated flawlessly. The customer was extremely satisfied with the results and appreciated both the quality of the work and the fair pricing.
