In December 2025, a customer in Darien, CT contacted Ben Garage Doors LLC after experiencing a sudden garage door failure caused by a broken torsion spring. Upon arrival, our team inspected the system and confirmed that the existing spring had reached the end of its life cycle. We provided the customer with a clear repair estimate for a new torsion spring and also recommended replacing the old, shaky rollers to ensure smoother and quieter door movement. The customer agreed to both services.
We installed a brand-new torsion spring rated for approximately 10,000 cycles, which is the industry-standard lifespan for residential torsion springs. As springs complete cycles, they weaken over time, and once they reach their limit, the door can become heavy, unsafe, or stop operating completely — exactly what occurred at this home.
Along with the spring replacement, we installed a full set of new rollers to improve stability, balance, and long-term performance.
